Research on a magazine.
The magazine I have chosen to do research on is Kerrang.
They are a highly successful metal and rock magazine that focuses on the music
more than any kind of side product though a lot of the articles are focusing on
concerts and gigs rather than the bands themselves. The average age of the
viewer of the magazine is 19 this age has reduced in the last few years though
the magazine has been in production for 33 years. This Magazine has been seen
as essential by a lot of the rock fans because it doesn’t just cover the most
popular bands like many other magazines they put in some niche bands and grows
them from obscurity into popular bands. Since they advertise gigs and do
interviews and reviews about them they can advertise them well as well as the
other big needed things for metal such as instruments and merchandise for the
bands. The magazine’s style is very dark and gothic though it works with the
kind of magazine they are trying to promote at the moment though some magazines
are more colourful when they focus on emo or punk bands. Kerrang has its own
T.V channel, its own Radio station and Website to go along with the magazine
this helps to spread the advertising as much as they can for everyone to see
and it is able to be seen no matter what the person is doing so it makes it
difficult to avoid as well.

Colour mood board
The colours that i plan to use is a mix of blacks, grays, red ,whites and blues depending on what people want of the magazine though in the few pages i can use all of the colors depending on what would be needed
mood board
The audience of my magazine will mostly be gamer's with half of the magazine focusing on technology and games and the other half on techno music and a little metal. the games are most focused on Japanese games and their style though their may be exceptions.
Advertisers mood board
This is my advertisers mood board this is my mood board of advertisement which is close to the audience which I'm aiming for which is more of gaming audience with electronica and metal music tastes though it may sound niche most of the people questioned and people I personally know who are gamers share this taste. the companies that are depicted on this mood board are well known within the communities.

Questionnaire report
The magazine I will be creating has been formed by the
questionnaire that I have given out the public to answer. I found out that 90%
of the people who I asked told me that they didn’t read a student magazine
already so that means there is no product or if there is it is not good enough
for the audience. The colours that I have decided for the magazine is black
white and red are good colours that people want for the magazine which also
look very formal. I will produce this magazine monthly since it is what people
wanted though it is quite vague since 30% also said they wanted it termly a
monthly magazine would be more useful to students. The magazine would cost 50P
since 40% said they would pay nothing which means 60% would pay for something.
The magazine would contain many topics but people want music, food, fashion,
competitions and revision advice for them. Since people said they would pay for
the magazine the ability to give free stuff would be feasible to do and 95%
said they would buy it more if it did have free stuff. On the front of the
magazine though teachers would look more professional the audience would want
student work and students on each copy of the magazine. The magazine would be
sold at the reception and coffee shop and it would also be multiplatform for as
many people to get to it as possible. The magazine would have advertising since
many people said it would be good to have in it or would accept it would be
needed.
