Research on a magazine.

The magazine I have chosen to do research on is Kerrang. They are a highly successful metal and rock magazine that focuses on the music more than any kind of side product though a lot of the articles are focusing on concerts and gigs rather than the bands themselves. The average age of the viewer of the magazine is 19 this age has reduced in the last few years though the magazine has been in production for 33 years. This Magazine has been seen as essential by a lot of the rock fans because it doesn’t just cover the most popular bands like many other magazines they put in some niche bands and grows them from obscurity into popular bands. Since they advertise gigs and do interviews and reviews about them they can advertise them well as well as the other big needed things for metal such as instruments and merchandise for the bands. The magazine’s style is very dark and gothic though it works with the kind of magazine they are trying to promote at the moment though some magazines are more colourful when they focus on emo or punk bands. Kerrang has its own T.V channel, its own Radio station and Website to go along with the magazine this helps to spread the advertising as much as they can for everyone to see and it is able to be seen no matter what the person is doing so it makes it difficult to avoid as well.
